Strenght in numbers or knowledge

Spartans are believed by many as the greatest warriors of all time. Their battle of Thermopylae - where a small number of warriors succeeded in holding the invading army of millions. Shouldn't the invading army have won the battle because they outnumbered their enemy ? History has always beaconed the fact that great armies have lost to small smart and focused army.
During a day off, an argument erupted between dad and me. He took the lead when he said " the current generation has the number but lacks the intent. The learning curve in you folks is flat with no curiosity in whatever field you're pursuing. The bread winning act of yours is tilted in favor of greed. Job hopping is cool rather than polishing your skills. This lackluster behavior will bring down the fallacy that Indian economy will sky rocket". I, immediately retreated !
Next few hours, I wondered, questioned, critically pondered. Yes. He was right. We're making merry when the party is on. We don't know when the lights are going to go out. Are we prepared for the darkness? can we battle it out ?
Examining the current scenario - getting into a B grade professional college is what one needs to get into a routine of drawing a fat paycheck for nothing. Corporates are desperate to hire young graduates to show off their strength to their clients in the West. India is a emerging market, not denying the fact, but we cannot remain emerging for another century. Before 1990 brain drain was the talk of the nation. Since the reforms in India, the employment sector brought the much needed aura to the Indian middle class. But for the dreams to remain footed in India, the working force has to uproot from its current ideology and face up to the west. We need to prove to the world, we are indeed an land for innovation and quality, not just a land for cheap and abundant labor.
Philippines and Brazil are growing in stature. First tide of change is slowly sweeping below our feet. The current generation has to brace up and stand firmly grounded, else will surely be washed away.
